In 2014, after a short time working as a Corrosion Engineer, Kevin Nelson decided to pursue his own business opportunity with a first-of-its-kind hypoallergenic dressing that he had developed on his own. Nelson Innovations, or NelDerm, was born. 

In 2020 at the height of the Pandemic, Kevin re-directed his manufacturer to produce face shields in response to the high demand for PPE. They sold over 2 million face shields to facilities in need across the country.

Later that year, NelDerm conducted a large-scale customer survey that revealed significant pain points amongst customers using the standard of care pressure offloading devices. Consequently, Kevin along with Wound Care Physician Dr. David Perse co-invented an innovative solution called the HeelP.O.D., which is the first commercialization of their P.O.D. technology for treatment and prevention of pressure injuries.
